ost foreigners would know
Indonesia as a country in which
people get touched by nature.
What they didn’t know was most of
Indonesian’s population is concentrated in
Java Island, the least ‘green’ area in the whole
country. Me myself lived in Jakarta most of
my life, and to be able to visit Sangihe, which
on the very north of Indonesia, has been a
most memorable memory. It is not enough
that the whole trip to Sangihe took practically
a whole day, the road to our distributor PT
Pancaran Berkat Mulia, was also hard and
bumpy.
Of course I could tell you all about all the
green nature or the majestic mountains, but

I’m not going to go into that. What I’m going
to talk about is the life tips that I learnt in my
three weeks in Sangihe.
Firstly, if all of a sudden you can’t find your
balance, and that you find yourself falling
over, dont panic. It’s just one of the many
occurences of mini-earthquakes that you will
experience in Sangihe. Make a game out of
it. Bet your friends who can be the most still
in in the course of the earthquake. Heck, you
can even try to challenge yourself and play
a game of domino. Just make sure to stay on
the road and not stand near tall trees (not
building, trees.)
Secondly, goodbye air-conditioner! For
my whole life I’ve been enslaved by a
revolutionary man-made product called
Air-Conditioner. I couldn’t live without it,
couldn’t maintain my good mood without
it, sometimes I couldn’t even be anywhere
without it. But in Sangihe, the fresh breeze
that ran through my whole body felt far more
better than any ion-induced, eco-friendly,
most expensive air-conditioner in the world.
I could walk for miles and still feel refreshed
because all the breeze. I could hike to the
top and my mind was clear because all of
the natural oxygen. I could sleep soundly at
night, because the temperature was just right,
and the occasional gentle gust rocked me to
sleep. It’s amazing to be free from the binds of
electronics.•••
