Equipment
If you are using equipment as part of the task then you must ensure
the following:
?You have had the appropriate training
?Remember to check the condition of the equipment
?Does it have a valid service sticker
?If you are using a piece of lifting equipment – do you know the
emergency release for that hoist?
Duty of Care
A duty of care is a legal obligation imposed on an individual
requiring that they adhere to a standard of reasonable care while
performing any acts that could conceivably harm others.
For example if you are providing care to someone and it has been
assessed that a hoist and sling are used, and for any reason you
do not use these, and the service user/casualty or yourselves are
injured, then you and your partner are at fault and deemed
negligent as you did not use equipment that had been Assessed.
By not using the equipment you could foresee that something could
happen to either of you or the service user.
