22 Safer Moving & Handling Team Handling When two or more people work as a team to lift, lower or carry loads it is referred to as team handling. Team handling must not be used as a permanent solution for handling heavy loads. If these types of loads are moved regularly in your workplace, the task must be mechanized or mechanical aids provided. It is useful to have some guidance on how to undertake this type of lift. However, as you should not regularly be doing so, your trainer will not ask you to demonstrate this manoeuvre. Before undertaking a team lift, make sure you have: ?An adequate number of people of similar size for the lift (if Possible) ?One person responsible for planning and controlling the team Handling ?Enough space to manoeuvre ?Allocated responsibilities to each team member
