Pool Extraction - Using Slide Sheet
This is covered over pages 40 - 43
This Slide Sheet is what we use to get the casualty out of the pool
in an Emergency. Two handlers support the casualty with their
arms in the pool (ensuring the casualty’s head and neck is
supported at all times), picture 1.
As you can see in Picture 2, the handlers outside the pool then take
the slide sheet between them and lower one side of the slide sheet
into the pool, passing it to the handlers inside the pool to guide
under the casualty and bring the slide sheet and straps up around
the other side of the casualty, and pass back to the three handlers
outside the pool to take charge of the slide sheet.
Note here how the handler outside the pool takes over supporting
the casualty’s head, while the handler inside the pool is having to
bring the slide sheet under the casualty to pass it back to him.
Picture 3 and 4 shows how the two handlers supporting the
casualty in the pool then bring their hands up at the opposite side of
the casualty and take hold of the pool edge for extra support.
