Walking Extraction from Seats
This will be covered over pages 28 - 31
As you can see in picture 1 and 2, one handler gets the appropriate
foot position, and a firm hold of the handling belt. Make sure there
is a handler at either side of the casualty, to support him as he
takes hold of the handling belt.
One person (handler) then takes the lead.
Following the example in Picture’s 2-3, the handlers support the
casualty to the front of his chair. Then direct the casualty to stand
after a ready, steady, stand command, with a rocking motion to
assist in standing.
Make sure to check the casualty is ready before beginning. Also
remember, you are assisting and supporting, and not physically
lifting.
