Other items in the donation include a 50th anniversary of Plant I coin . Plant I was Boeing ’ s first airplane production facility . The coin belonged to Maureen , who worked on wings at the Renton plant in the 1960s . In fact , that ’ s where she met her husband , a toolmaker named Maurice . With small hands , Maureen was able to reach up into the tight wing spaces , so Maurice volunteered to make tools that suited her . The donation also included Maurice ’ s equation / tool book from 1957 . Little else is known about the family or their stories , but it ’ s clear that their time with the company meant something — they took pride in their work . And like all Boeing employees who walked the factory floor , continuing to build airplanes for the war effort and beyond , they did a great service .
The collections within the Boeing Archives date back to the founding of the company . From the correspondence of company founder Bill Boeing himself , to the drawings of the pivotal swept wing design of the B-47 , the stories that live within these walls are priceless .
