March 5 , 2024 - The 2021 Class of Astronauts , also known as The Flies , pose with Chief of the Astronaut Office Joe Acaba and Deputy Cheif of the Astronaut Office Shannon Walker during the class graduation ceremony at the Johnson Space Center in Houston , Texas . This is the second class to graduate under the Artemis program and the 12 astronauts are now eligible for assignments to the International Space Station , Artemis missions to the Moon and ultimately , missions to Mars . The most recent class of NASA astronaut candidates ( Group 23 ) just graduated on March 5 , 2024 ; this now makes them eligible for space flight assignments !
