In June , five enthusiastic students from ages 18 to 25 forged new paths in the very first Building Tomorrow Today course . Even before the first course ended , students were hungry for more .

Young adults in Oregon are exploring the field of aircraft mechanics and getting first-hand experience in a new introductory course at Erickson , Inc . In June , five enthusiastic students from ages 18 to 25 forged new paths in the very first Building Tomorrow Today course . Even before the first course ended , students were hungry for more .

Ryan Hubbard , a recent high school graduate , shared about his experience in the course , “ If you don ’ t know what career path you might want to go down or want to expand your horizons , this course really does that . It doesn ’ t just talk about one thing in aviation ; it ’ s a broad perspective of aviation that you learn throughout the course . It helps you understand where you may want to go and where you want to be .” Ryan plans to start college in the fall to pursue a welding degree and certificate in business finance .
The six-week course immerses students in 36 hours of “ riveting ” aviation mechanic instruction , with classes meeting twice weekly . Students explore the field of mechanics and manufacturing in the dynamic environment of an operational MRO facility at Erickson , Inc . in Central Point , Oregon . Erickson is the OEM of the S-64 Air Crane ® ultra heavy-lift helicopter that is used for firefighting , heavy-lift , and more .
