Ivette started with ASK in elementary school , going on flight simulators and even seeing older students participate in TeenFlight . When she started the program , Ivette was one of the only women of color in the cohort . The pandemic shut everything down , but when she came back , Ivette found a closeknit group of people with whom she could work and relate :
“ In my life , I came across people who didn ’ t believe in me but the people in TeenFlight , including students , student mentors , and mentors helped me overcome those barriers .”
