In addition to these accomplishments , she has taken extra college classes through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Florida . She has graduated from the Advanced PoS- SUM Academy ( Polar Suborbital Science in the Upper Mesosphere — immersive training for future astronauts — https :// projectpossum . org /), which makes her certified to go to space , and she is an astronaut trainee .
If you think this sounds good and you want to consider living and working in space , Alyssa has some advice . She said , “ I believe that one of the awesome things I ’ ve loved about speaking and sharing is that it is cool to teach kids about the space industry and what that looks like . There are many jobs in sending kids to space . Kids don ’ t often get exposed to those jobs – they won ’ t all be astronauts , but they can be exposed to out-of-the-box jobs — food in space and designing space suits — those are fun , encouraging kids to go after their dream , STEM or not .”
She added , “ After working towards goals and putting effort in , it can be a reality . If you are interested in something , start working toward it . Most astronauts are in their 30s and 40s . Working towards a goal can be applied to many jobs .”
