THE PROBLEM: THE " BIG THREE "
At Slingshot, we’ ve noticed that three things usually get in the way of students dreaming big: stress, anxiety, and fear.
f STRESS is that heavy feeling that you have to make the right decision.
f ANXIETY is the rush to have everything settled this very second.
f FEAR is that nervous " what if?" about the future or the worry that you might fail or make a wrong decision.
We want to help you kick those three things to the curb. Instead of worrying about a final destination, we want you to focus on the journey of becoming the best version of yourself. We call this " purposeful direction."
THE IDEAS FRAMEWORK: YOUR PERSONAL MAP
I wrote a book called Be More Like You and created a tool called the IDEAS Framework to help students navigate their futures. It’ s a fivestep process that helps you connect the dots between who you are, what excites you and how you move in that direction. Here is how it works:
1. INTROSPECTION: This is just a fancy word for looking inside yourself. What makes you happy( interests)? What are you curious about( problems you like to solve)? What are you naturally good at( your unique skills)? Before you look at jobs, you have to look at you.
