If you can imagine being locked in a dark closet with no sound and no light, either inside or outside the closet, you might have some idea of a black hole. While that may sound scary, imagine being locked in the closet forever! In a black hole, once something lands in it, it can never escape— being pulled in by gravity so strong, it can only plummet deeper into the black hole.
