Police Department
The Winsted-Lester Prairie Police Department ’ s current members include Police Chief Justin Heldt and five full-time police officers : James Lammers , Travis Wakefield , Daniel Moonen , Emilie Vaske , and Lucas Caturia . In addition to these full-time officers , the department has a roster of five part-time officers who help provide police services when needed . The police department has two police station ’ s location at 201 1st Street North in Winsted and 36 Juniper Street North in Lester Prairie . In addition to office space at the stations , the department has an interview room where people can report crimes or be questioned about crimes .

The Winsted-Lester Prairie Police Department is involved in programs including Drug Abuse Resistance Education ( DARE ), Winsted & Lester Prairie Night Out Events , child fingerprinting , bike safety programs at Lester Prairie , Winsted , and Holy Trinity Elementary
Schools . The department also conducts safety talks to students on safety issues , talks with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to enable them to earn merit badges , and other safety talks throughout the year . Chief Heldt is also the emergency manager for both Winsted and Lester Prairie , who works with both City Council ’ s to have a plan for disaster response .

Sheriff Tim Langenfeld is the 27th Sheriff of McLeod County .
The sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer of McLeod County and is responsible for both common and statutory law to keep and preserve the peace of the county . Also , the sheriff is an officer of the McLeod District Court and has charge and custody of the county jail .
McLeod County is 504 square miles and has a population of approximately 36,735 people . The county comprises 14 townships and nine cities . The county seat is Glencoe .
Major highways that run through the county include US Highway 212 and State Highways 7 , 15 , and 22 .
The McLeod County Sheriff ’ s Office is a 24 / 7 law enforcement agency providing services to all of the cities and townships in the county . We also contract law enforcement services to the Cities of Silver Lake and Stewart .

Communications division
The McLeod County Sheriff ’ s Communications Division acts as the public safety answering point , more commonly known to the public as the 911 emergency system answering point , for all municipalities in McLeod County .
