mostly either offshore near continental shelf area ocean bottom, or
Permafrost land underground in polar regions(Messoyakha gas field:
Gazprom Neft: only publicly known full time large volume operation), or in
high altitude permafrost region(Qiangtang Basin China+). Also about
160times as dense natural gas storage with -20C(INPEX+),
• Crystalized Methane combined with water in specific geometric form, as
mantle derived methane surfacing into ocean/near surface is trapped in
water under high pressure and low temperature. This ice like formation can
remain so under pressure at substantially above 0°C
temperature(mainstream established idea). Recoverable accumulation is so
