Bon Appétit << ENJOY THE SEASON With family coming to Erie for the holidays, what better way to spend time with them than by enjoying Erie’s growing craft beer and wine industries? Lake Erie Wine Country has 24 wineries, while the Lake Erie Ale Trail consists of 11 different regional breweries. All are great places to visit this holiday season. Plus, many of the locations are holding fun holiday events to coincide with the season. Here’s a look at just some of the fun activities coming up in the next month. New Art Show Opening Reception Saturday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sensory Winery Sensory Winery’s latest exhibit, featuring the works of North Shore Arts Alliance and the North East Arts Council, opens Friday, Dec. 2, with a free reception. Complimentary food, wine and beer samples will be provided and guests can enjoy the art while conversing with the participating artists. Sensory Winery wines and 7 Sins Brewery beers will also be available for purchase. Holiday Week at the Wineries Beats at the Brix New Year’s Eve Doubleheader Monday, Dec. 26, to Saturday, Dec. 31 Lake Erie Wine Country Saturday, Dec. 31, 7 p.m. 21 Brix Winery, Portland, N.Y. Keep the positive holiday vibes rolling by visiting one of Lake Erie Wine Country’s 24 wineries during the week that follows Christmas. No tickets or reservations are necessary for this event, but specials and discounts will be available. The music begins at 7 p.m. with Russell and Hamels Duo while the Jesse Taylor Smith Trio will perform at 9:30 p.m. This event is free, but a wine purchase is required. The winery also offers several cold and warm appetizers, including cheese and cracker platters, spinach and artichoke dip, Bavarian pretzels, personal pizzas and chili.
