Stage Directions Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story at Buxton Opera House by Richard Lane T he hit West End musical show, Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story seen by over 22 million people worldwide, is coming to Buxton Opera House in September! Experience the drama, passion and excitement as a cast of talented West End actors and musicians tell Buddy Holly’s story, from his meteoric rise to fame, to his final legendary performance at The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. The multi award-winning show features two hours of Buddy Holly music (many argue some of the greatest songs ever written), including That’ll Be The Day, Oh Boy, Rave On, La Bamba, Chantilly Lace, Johnny B. Goode, Raining In My Heart, Everyday, Shout and many, many more. The show has gained rave reviews for drawing in the audience and stepping back in time with compelling drama, incredible covers of the music, and authentic 50s costumes and sets. Aged just 22 at the time of his death in 1959, Buddy Holly has since been described as one of the most influential rock ‘n’ roll stars who ever lived. Buddy pioneered his own style of songwriting which has since become the standard template for rock ‘n’ roll. With a full cast and live band The Buddy Holly Story relives all the excitement, showing just what all the fuss was about! Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story takes place from Monday 9 to Saturday 14 September. The evening show starts at 7.30pm and the Thursday and Saturday matinees commence at 2.30pm.
