COUNTRY AND WESTERN WEEKEND
Carolann B and Allan Watkiss,
Caroline King, Coles Country,
Donna Wylde, Monty Montanna, Thorne Hill
and Travis Logan, are all country music artists
from across the country and will be playing in
the specially erected marquee which will be
located at the top of Brough Park, complete
with wooden floor for dancing. See the full
programme of entertainment in the marquee
taking place from Saturday afternoon right the
way through until Sunday evening. A fully
licenced bar is available in the marquee and a
variety of food vendors will be on site selling
their produce - so make sure you check out
what’s going on up there over the festivities.
Leek’s various community associations and
clubs, including scout and guide groups, have
all been invited to take part and will be involved
during the weekend by providing stalls and
games such as coconut shies, horseshoe tossing
and other activities enjoyed in the west, while
raising funds for their organisations. Leek
College will be providing an old time photo
booth where people can dress up in Western
wear and have their photos taken in a similar
style to those of iconic Western characters
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. There will
also be a bucking bronco for people wishing to
try their luck provided by Leek Bouncy Castles!
Meanwhile Moorlands Radio will be providing
the soundtrack for the weekend in Derby Street
on Saturday and in the park on Sunday. If you
would like to get involved there is still time please contact Leek Town Clerk, Julie Taylor on
Tel: 01538 381271.
Completing the weekend’s theme, Western
wear companies will be visiting the town to sell
their distinctive “get-up” to anyone wishing to
purchase a cowboy hat or waistcoat - if you
haven’t got one already that is! Bridgend
Garden Centre in Macclesfiled Road and Over
the Rainbow toy shop in Sheep Market will also
be stocking up for the event with children’s
cowboy hats and sheriffs badges.
Camping for the weekend is an option for
visitors and tourists, provided by Leek Hockey
Club on Macclesfield Road for just £15 for the
entire event. Anyone wishing to book for the
Country and Western Weekend can contact
Richard at [email protected].
The Leek Town Council Events Committee
has got the wagon wheels in motion, now all
they need is the support of the community to
make it the hoe-down of the century and a
knees up Steve would be truly proud of.
