The shop on the Homend, Ledbury Volunteer Becky Wright T he Trust’s high street charity shop is enjoying a surge in donations and customers since new manager Sue Daynes joined the team in August but now needs more volunteers to help with running the shop. Herefordshire Wildlife Trust manages 55 nature reserves across the county as well as running habitat restoration projects and a programme of environmental activities and education. Winter is one of the Trust’s busy periods with woodland management tasks such as coppicing and hedge laying take place. Teams of volunteers and staff are busy on sites throughout Herefordshire’s beautiful landscapes ensuring our wild places remain havens for our wildlife. The Trust’s charity shop is one of the key ways that the charity fundraises with all money raised supporting its work in the county. Volunteers are needed at the shop to help with all sorts of tasks from welcoming customers and sorting donations to specialist tasks such as researching books and antique items. Shop manager Sue Daynes commented: “we have a fantastic group of volunteers at the shop but we can’t currently keep up with our great donations and lovely customers! We’d love to hear from anyone who might be able to spare a few hours each week to join the team – we’re a very friendly bunch!” Anyone interested can pop into the shop at 4, The Homend, Ledbury or contact Sue at [email protected] or call 01531 635946.
