All the memorials are beautifully designed,
particularly the 1914 Christmas Truce Memorial,
designed by ten-year-old Spencer Turner.
Each year The National Memorial Arboretum
welcomes over 300,000 visitors, but the centre
could not give such a good service, without the
hardworking volunteers. They provide the visitors
with guided walks, buggy tours, a land train, and
a new children's sensory play garden. They also
support learning visits from schools; they provide
gardening, ground maintenance, tree planting,
and marshalling. In addition, both The Restaurant
and The Coffee Shop are run by these amazing
volunteers, who must be very dedicated people.
There is such a lot for everyone to explore, discover,
and remember. The National Memorial Arboretum
is open daily from 9am to 5pm, with the exception
of Christmas Day, and unless otherwise stated the
last admission is 4.30pm. The Remembrance Centre
has a gift shop, a fantastic restaurant, with a wide
range of hot or cold meals to suit all tastes, and the
coffee shop serves fragrant teas, freshly brewed
coffee and delicious snacks.
