L edbury Community Choir was busy singing at various events during the Christmas period: Ledbury Lights Switch-on (always an occasion filled with delight and the anticipation for the coming festivities), the Town Carol Service where young and old reminded us of the meaning of Christmas and, for us, the culmination of our year of song, our Christmas Concert which was so well attended that we had to close ticket sales. Our thanks to all who attended including the Town Mayor, Phillip Howells. After that our Musical Director, Malcolm Hughes, took a well deserved break to restore his energy, and gave the choir a month off. Perhaps you have made a New Year’s Resolution to take a bigger part in the community, make new friends or get back to singing. Well, this is your chance to do all three. The choir will start again in February and begin learning a new selection of songs - even if they are “old” Mal will have given them a new arrangement - and we would be delighted to have new people come and give us a try. Our first meeting of 2020 will be in the Pavilion Room at Ledbury Rugby Club on Monday 3rd February at 7.30 pm and then every subsequent Monday evening. New singers are welcome at all meetings, the parking is easy and there is a bar (for voice lubrication, obviously). No audition, as we are a community choir, but it helps if you can hold a tune and all ages and voice ranges are welcome. Singing is good for physical and mental health, gives pleasure to the singer and, we hope, the listener and keeps the brain active, so what is there not to like?
