Gymnázium - Gimnázium Kráľovský Chlmec
Gymnázium - Gimnázium, Horesska 18, Kralovsky Chlmec is a secondary grammar school teaching pupils from the age of 11 to 19. The primary aim of the school is to prepare its learners for university studies. Nevertheless, with its unique vocational program it provides the students with hands-on experience via a variety of practical subjects from the field of economy, management, pharmacy / health care and ICT.
Gaining academic knowledge is no longer the only objective of education; we want our learners to develop their soft skills, become team members and take part in the life of our school community as well as the communities of the towns and villages they come from. Entrepreneurship, engagement, and active citizenship present the goals we wish to attain. Our school has almost 400 students. It is located in a bilingual region in the south-eastern part of our country. Slovak and Hungarian languages are spoken by most people, vine is cultivated in many families, people try to keep traditions and it is reflected in the life and the curriculum of our school. Despite the fact of being located in a poorly developed region with much unemployment and social insecurity, we try to offer our learners the best we can: we often apply for governmental grants to equip our classrooms with teaching aids and technology needed in the schools of the 21st century.
We are an extremely active school. Our learners and teachers take part in many competitions and extra- curricular activities. Some of them are focused on strengthening subject-based knowledge, the others on showing one´s talents. We try to be as active as we can in the life of our municipality too.
