804 online viewers saw the broadcast of
the Graduation 2013 ceremonies at
St. George’s Hall, a grand occasion,
celebrating the achievements of Bradford
College graduates. Bradford College
bestowed six Honorary Fellowships during
the Graduation Ceremonies.
Graduates, family members, and friends attending the
Graduation 2013 ceremonies beamed with delight when
it was announced ceremonies would be streamed live
worldwide over the internet, the college graduation website
and shown on the Big Screen in City Square. As a result the
college web graduation ceremonies broadcast page was
viewed 804 times over the two days, 115 viewers from
college and 689 external viewers. Some viewers even
watched the ceremony from as far as India, Pakistan, North
America, Canada and Greece.
Margaret Naylor, Learning Resources Manager - Media says,
‘We have been able to deliver a live broadcast available outside
college systems for the first time, the quality of the output was a
result of a lot of hard work from all the team.’
Behind the scenes, the Creative Media and Innovation team
used high resolution and digital technology to create a
set-up that was eye-catching, with live camera projection
on stage. Credit to former employee Gordon Yates for the
graphics and Paul Holmes for printing the beautiful
blue-banners with the crest. The recording set-up had multi
uses of live-mix, post production, live streaming online as
well as broadcast on the City’s Big Screen. Team Leader Zaid
Bashir lead the innovation of streaming live and Tony Bunn
directed the Creative Media and Innovation production
team. Putting the production statistics into perspective excluding streaming and back-ups, Tony stated that
‘The 5 Ceremonies in total were 377 minutes: that’s 6 hours 17
minutes. We used 20 SD cards, shooting 380 GigaBytes of
footage, using 4 cameras concurrently makes 1508 minutes just over 25 hours total footage to edit.’
Currently, the graduation footage is being edited for DVD
creation. For further information on recording events and
