Books on Prescription help you understand and manage your own health and wellbeing using self-help reading • Common issues such as depression, stress and anxiety • Dementia • Shelf Help for young people aged 13-18 • Long Term Conditions Other Services and resources Home Library Service If you still love reading but find it difficult to get to your local library, our Home Library Service offers you the chance to get the books that you love to read delivered straight to your door. You can choose from a wide variety of fiction and non fiction in a range of different formats including regular print, large print and audio books. These will be delivered to your home on a regular basis. A Royal Voluntary Service volunteer will visit you to discuss what types of books you enjoy reading and organise a regular time to visit. It’s as easy as that! Just give us a ring and we’ll make an appointment to visit when it’s convenient to you. We can also show you how you can read our large selection of e-books and listen to audio books using the Explore e-Library on a tablet computer. Don’t worry if you don’t have a tablet computer or the internet, we can loan you one pre-loaded with e-books. Memory Bank Memory Bank is an award-winning series of DVDs developed by the Yorkshire Film Archive, available free for people to borrow. They use archive films to bring past events and experiences to life, prompting stories and memories to share and enjoy. They’re great for reminiscence, memory and life story work, for older people and those with dementia. You can browse the Memory Bank collection on our catalogue and place free reservations at any time. Explore York Libraries and Archiv es support your health and wellbe ing Breaking news... Libraries consultation – have your say Help City of York Council to shape your library service. Explore is contracted to deliver York’s Libraries until 2019. They need to set out in the contract what is required from the library service. Please take part in the council’s survey and help make it the service you want. All our libraries offer free wi-fi with no time limit and computers for public use. Join a Reading Group, meet an Author, listen to live Poetry, knit, natter and more at a Craft Club, meet new friends at a Boccia game or Coffee Morning. So much is happening.
