5-8 July
In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Ancient
Society of Florists, the oldest florists’ society still
in existence in the world, a new festival, Bloom!, is
being planned for historic York in 2018. The new four-
day festival, from 5-8July, celebrating horticulture and
flowers in York, will mark this milestone with events and
installations right across the city.
In response to Bloom! York Learning will
be creating flowers in a wide range of
media including recycled to create a
Flower wall! at Explore York Libraries.
Some of our learners are also getting
involved with one of the real flower
displays. Our Flower arranging tutor
Joanna Keely is building a feature display
and her students are going to be helping
with it’s preparation.
We will be running workshops both
to support the development of the
community art piece and the floral
feature display.
