Batik Basics
Batik is a wax-resist dying technique , where wax designs are applied to fabric before dying . Once the wax is removed , the neutral color of the fabric or the color of a prior layer of dye is revealed . Discuss the history of batik while creating your own wax designs on cotton cloths . After applying the dye , you will have the option of taking your project home following class and removing the wax ( directions provided ) or picking up your finished project up at a later date with wax removed .
