Ed-Ventures Minnesota State Capitol Tour Historic Cemetery Walking Tour Romp through the history of early Minnesota by visiting five cemeteries that are the final resting places of the early settlers. Tour guide Mary-Benton Hummel wrote a thesis for Hamline University on the history of St Paul as seen through its cemeteries. Discover the stories cemeteries tell about the history and sociology of the city from one who knows where "the bodies are buried!" Meet at the East Gate of Calvary Cemetery. Transportation between locations is on your own. Tour takes place rain or shine. Wear comfortable shoes and bring money for lunch. Explore the Capitol's history, art and architecture. You will visit the Senate and House Chambers where government decisions are made, see the Governor's reception room, as well as the grand floor and magnificent rotunda spaces. Weather permitting you will have an opportunity to see the famous Quadriga (golden horses) on the roof of the Capitol. Lunch follows at Yarusso’s where you will enjoy the pasta, pizza and salad bar buffet. Tour departs at 10:15 am from Oak-Land Middle School parking lot and returns to the same location at approximately 2:00 pm. Fee includes school bus transportation, Capitol tour, all inclusive lunch and tour host. Cancellation policy: a $10 processing fee will be deducted from the refund when cancelling before October 3.
