Ceremony
Attention veterans, discover the Ramsey County
Veterans Services program. Director Maria Wetherall
will discuss the program including the services and
benefits available to veterans and their families. Gain
information on accessing benefits, veteran advocates
and some specific benefits that pertain to seniors.
Come with your questions! The North St. Paul American
Legion Post #39 will provide the color guard for a
flag ceremony that will accompany this presentation.

spouses, family members and community members. This

Harley Tracks Across Vietnam to The Wall
In 2008, a job opportunity brought Mike Rinowski and
his Harley Davidson to Hanoi, Vietnam. What began as
a joy ride on his day off soon rolled into an adventure
and pilgrimage to honor those who fought in the Vietnam
War. He traveled 41,000 miles, visiting most of the battle
sites including Dien Bien Phu from the first Indochina War
that ended just prior to the Vietnam War. Meet Mike
and hear about his journey, the land, the people and the
history that led him to write his story, Harley Tracks Across
Vietnam to the Wall. An optional book signing will follow
the presentation. The book will be available for optional
purchase for $29.95.

Take a historical examination of the Middle East with a focus on the two wars involving the United States. Each seminar is
designed to stand alone, though by attending all four you will gain a clear understanding of the history and the military
techniques and strategies employed. Register for the series at the discounted rate of $75 or register for individual sessions

Examine the Crusades during the Middle Ages that were called to take back the Holy Land. Discover what
happened and then look at certain groups of religious knights, who together are called Warrior Monks, the Knights
Templar, the Knights Hospitaller and the Teutonic Knights. Identify the effects after the Crusades to today.

It is important to look at the overall history of what is called the Middle East. Review events from the defeat of the
Ottoman Empire in 1918 to present day conflicts in the Arab world. Take a look at the creation of the individual
countries in the Middle East and the way each has progressed to the present day. Discuss the different terrorist
organizations that have developed and their impact on the world today.

buildup of troops and defense of Saudi Arabia. Operation Desert Storm was a war waged by coalition forces
from 34 nations led by the United States against Iraq in response to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait.

Take a broad look at the Iraq War which was an armed conflict in Iraq that consisted of two phases. The first was
an invasion of Iraq starting on March 20, 2003 by an invasion force of the United States and allies that led to the
end of Ba’athist Iraq. It was followed by a longer phase of fighting, in which an insurgency emerged to oppose the
occupying forces and the newly formed Iraqi government.
