CIRO’ s End-Point Assessment( EPA) service forms a vital part of our learning and development offer, supporting apprentices at the final stage of their journey and ensuring they meet the standards required to operate safely and effectively across the railway.

As a registered End-Point Assessment Organisation( EPAO), we provide a professional, consistent and supportive service, guiding employers and apprentices through every stage of the EPA process.

Our EPA Standards: Train Driver – Level 3
A comprehensive assessment of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to operate trains safely and efficiently.
Includes:
• Multiple choice test
• Observations of planned, degraded and emergency working
• Professional discussion
Transport Scheduler( Train Operators)- Level 3
Evaluates capability in planning and managing timetables, ensuring effective service delivery and resource allocation.
Includes:
• Observation with questioning
• Interview, supported by a portfolio of evidence
Rail Infrastructure Operator – Level 3
Assesses the ability to manage safe and efficient train movements across the network
Includes:
• Simulated practical assessment covering planned, unplanned and emergency scenarios
• Professional discussion, supported by a portfolio
