Learning About E-Waste With The Wolcott Nitrobots E-Waste | Page 29

The brain of our robot is an Ev3, which reads pre-installed programs. Our robot has three wheels and the front wheel has no tire which makes for easy turns. Apart from the basic drive train, our robot is equipped with a gyro and ultrasonic sensor. The gyro sensor is used to measure angles. We can have our robot move until the gyro sensor measures 90 degrees. This is useful to maneuver around the field and to make sure we don't run into anything. The second sensor we have is an ultrasonic sensor. An ultrasonic sensor measures how far away the robot is from a solid surface. This will help us stop at an exact inch or cm. away from whatever it sees.

Our robot has other unique attachments. One of our attachments is a claw. This claw opens and closes with gears so it is exceptionally good for grabbing things. Another attachment we have consists of 2 wheels that spin above the ground. The wheels make contact with another wheel on the sorter mission, and spins the wheel to sort the trash by size. In order to get the compost into the composter we use a dump which when the trash is on it puts them in the composter. Our final attachment is a plow which pushes items from one place to another. These are the many amazing aspects of our robot.
