News from our Chamber Environmental Some companies see rules and regulations and ask, “Why?” Others see opportunities for leadership and environmental stewardship and ask, “Why not?” The Eartha Awards, sponsored by the Environmental Council, celebrate companies taking steps to exceed minimum compliance. Nominees qualify by demonstrating excellence in pollution prevention, source reduction or reuse, land reclamation, environmental health and safety improvements, and sustainability. Applications must be received by Aug. 31, and awards will be given at the annual Environmental and Safety Conference on Nov. 6. For more information, visit elkhart.org/Eartha.php. The OSHA Council is offering 10 hours of general industry training on OSHA compliance Oct. 8-9, while a 10-hour program specific to construction safety will take place Jan. 7-8. Both events cost $300, with discounts provided to chamber members, and include copies of relevant handbooks. The sessions serve as gateways for the in-depth training geared toward supervisors and foremen provided annually by the council. Both of the 10-hour training sessions will be at the Matterhorn Conference Center, 2041 Cassopolis St., Elkhart. For more information, visit elkhart.org. J.A. Wagner Construction, Inc.
