Ivy Tech Community College is well on its
way to raising the $14 million necessary to
fund an innovative advanced manufacturing
center for its Elkhart County campus at 22531
C.R. 18, Goshen.
The campaign is underway, and to date, Ivy
Tech has invested and raised approximately
$2.5 million, and several million dollars
are “in the pipeline,” says Thomas J. Kilian,
executive director of resource development for
Ivy Tech’s North Central Region.
Project advocates have made multiple
presentations to Elkhart business groups
in recent weeks and received ample verbal
endorsements, Kilian said. Because no state
funds will be available, the entire funding
will have to come from local sources. The
project got a boost in October when the
Elkhart County Redevelopment Commission
agreed to allocate $500,000 for infrastructure
improvements.
Though no strict timetable exists at this point,
if ground were broken in the fall of 2014, the
facility could near completion in the fall of 2015.
The 55,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility
will be built on the existing Ivy Tech campus on
the east side of Elkhart.
