A JOURNEY WITH THE HEALER Kathy Duffy
The first miracle I ever witnessed happened when I was eight years old— my mom was healed of a painful ulcer. At the time, we attended a church that did not believe divine healing was for today. But Mom had begun attending home meetings with believers who were passionately pursuing Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. The prayer of faith was prayed— and she was instantly healed. A follow-up X-ray confirmed the ulcer was completely gone. That healing made a major impact on our family, and soon after, we began attending a church that believed healing and miracles were for today.
A few years later I witnessed my second miracle— God healed my dog, Pierre, who was hit by a car. The vet said he wouldn ' t make it through the night. But our family prayed— and the next morning the veterinarian said he had never seen anything like it. There was nothing wrong with our dog. That miracle left a mark on the heart of a young girl that she never forgot. When I was twenty, I found myself in what I
now call a divine setup. Once again, I witnessed God ' s healing power— only this time, His power flowed through me. I was working at Oral Roberts ' City of Faith Hospital while attending Bible school, serving as a nutrition technician— a fancy title for someone who delivered patient food trays from room to room.
The Compassion of Jesus
But God had other plans for those hallways. As I walked through those hospital rooms and saw people suffering, compassion would rise up within me. At times I felt compelled to stop and pray— and often, God would heal them. Before long, the nurses began to notice. I became known as the girl who delivered food trays, prayed for patients, and saw God heal. I was not seeking a healing ministry. Being surrounded by people suffering simply drew the compassion of Jesus— and His healing power— out of me. That is how my healing ministry began.
