The Weaver’ s Hands
One poem has become especially meaningful to Roberts throughout his journey.“ My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me,” it begins. The poem describes life as a tapestry viewed from underneath. From our perspective, the threads appear tangled, chaotic, and confusing, but from God’ s perspective, every dark thread has purpose.“ Not until the loom is silent,” the poem says,“ shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.”
For Roberts, blindness became one of those dark but necessary threads. Though he cannot physically see the faces of those he ministers to today, his story has helped countless people see God more clearly in their own suffering. And perhaps that is the mystery of grace. Sometimes the people who lose their earthly sight become the ones who help others find their eternal vision.
