Hope is the First Dose

When I was a kid , there was a commercial from a group called Partnership for a Drug- Free America . It showed a man holding an egg and saying , “ This is your brain .” Then the camera panned to a skillet on a stove . “ This is drugs ,” the man said . He cracked the egg into the skillet , and as it began to fry , he held the skillet up to the camera and said , “ This is your brain on drugs . Any questions ?” With the image of the frying egg in my head , I could easily visualize what would happen to me if I took drugs . It was a very effective warning for me , and apparently it worked because I never fried my brain on drugs .
Now imagine me holding up an egg and showing it to you . “ This is your brain ,” I say .
Then I show you a skillet on a hot burner : “ This is The Massive Thing [ TMT ] in your life .”
