Preparing for the Journey

This journey from idealism to disillusionment to enduring hope certainly isn ’ t confined to foster care . It ’ s an inevitable journey for all who serve . It ’ s a journey that leads people like Ann through disappointments , setbacks , and hurts . Even when there seem to be overwhelming reasons to give up , enduring hope sustains a lifetime of faithful service .

We want to retain the very best of youthful ideals while shedding the false promise of idealism . We want to passionately pursue goals that exceed our personal capacity — and never settle for the inane . To not drift to lukewarmness or apathy , but to find ways of living with enduring hope and expectation .
