Today , people speak quickly , confrontationally to others in an attempt to force them to agree with the way they think . What we need to do instead is listen . Ask questions ( respectfully , kindly ). Attempt to see things from a new point of view in order to thoughtfully address controversial issues . Communicate in a way that appeals to our shared struggles and universal challenges — weakness , fear , confusion , helplessness .
Put plainly , to be pro-life , a person must be pro-humanity . We share the same planet , the same flesh and blood , the same struggles . Shouldn ’ t we care about every life wherever it is found ? Whether sleeping silently within a mother ’ s womb or carrying the shame and guilt of past decisions , each person bears the image of God . We need to care about all of it . In protecting life , we protect our very future .

Patti Giebink , M . D ., is a board-certified OB / GYN physician who now works part-time delivering babies in rural South Dakota hospitals and Christian hospitals overseas .
Previously , Patti worked in her hometown of Sioux Falls , South Dakota . In addition to her private practice , she began working parttime at Planned Parenthood in Sioux Falls performing abortions .
