“ being.” The thought is that if they eliminate academic winning, then they can prevent all losing. What a utopia! Loser students with a habit of laziness, drunkenness, and lawlessness can share equal opportunity with disciplined, focused, and hardworking students. The strange thing is that a university will pay millions to coaches who help their teams win because, secretly, they know and believe that everyone loves a winner, and no one wants to attend a losing school. Even their ideology bows a knee to good PR and money, money, money. Doc Holiday said it best in the movie OK Corral:“ My hypocrisy knows no bounds.”
Are you a Christian? Is your life so parallel to that of unbelievers that you can’ t tell the difference? Do you consume the same entertainment? Have the same habits? Except maybe to visit a religious building across town every now and again to satisfy your conscience. You’ ve been tricked into thinking God’ s grace is a spiritual socialism program. That’ s a program where it doesn’ t matter how you live because, mysteriously, grace makes all things equal. That’ s a lie. That’ s not Bible truth.

Good thinking is hard work, but it’ s way more fun and beneficial than bad, tormented thinking. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 reminds us that God has given us weapons of warfare that are mighty to pull down evil imaginations, bringing every thought into alignment with God’ s perfect will for us. We can have those weapons, but if we leave them idle, they’ re useless.
Good thinking requires good coaching. Encouragement is good, but correction is more profitable. The Bible says we need admonishment— a gentle, earnest warning or piece of advice with regard to duties and obligations.
Have you ever had someone point out something stuck to the back of your shirt or on the back of your pants? You see what you see from your perspective, but a coach sees from outside your world, helping to correct things you’ re overlooking. Having a coach doesn’ t mean you don’ t have talent. It’ s actually the complete opposite. Your life
