BE WILLING TO FIRE YOURSELF

I ’ ve never wanted to find myself on the receiving end of the dreaded conversation after an email invite to join my leader in a conference room we ’ ve never met in before . And , perhaps most concerningly , the human resources representative was cc ’ d on the email and is now sitting at the table with said boss , with a suspicious-looking manila folder resting between them . Have you been there ? You take your seat , feeling the weight of the world press down on you while someone from IT dutifully cuts your access to the company servers . Yep , that moment totally sucks .
For those who haven ’ t been through this experience and think this description feels like hyperbole , trust me , it ’ s no exaggeration . Exits from employers are often a highly prescribed process ensuring the protection of data and the organization ’ s reputation ( no company-wide emails or Slack messages in which you denigrate your boss and organization for their obvious incompetence
