doesn ’ t have one . Some of our assignments in unhealthy cultures will be relatively short , but some of us will have an assignment to stay with a particular organization for a long haul and take on more leadership and responsibility to bring change . Others of us will have an assignment to start our own businesses , teams , or organizations and establish healthy culture in them . Whatever the path the Lord takes us on , we can be sure that He will teach us how to become healthy people whose practices align with our core values so that we can positively influence and impact those around us .
Character
That brings us to character development , that final key element in our journey to find our sweet spot . Character is something that develops in our lives as we are tested and proven to be genuine people of authenticity and integrity , people whose internal and external worlds are fully aligned , and who look more and more like Christ .
Without learning to discern God ’ s purpose for our character development , we ’ ll never really be able to experience alignment and integrity in our identity , purpose , and assignments . One of my friend Danny Silk ’ s favorite sayings is , “ Wherever you go , there you are .” Many people today leave jobs because they think the discomfort they ’ re feeling is due to some breakdown or friction in the areas of gifts and personality , execution , or culture . But often the real issue is rooted much more deeply in the core beliefs and motives of their heart . This is why they move on to the next job and find the same problems cropping up for them –– they brought themselves with them . In contrast , when we lean into the discomfort and ask God what He may be wanting to deal with in our hearts , we position ourselves for personal transformation . When God moves us to our next assignment , we will take a wiser , healthier person with us .
