FEATURE: AFRICAN-AMERICAN FAITH LEADERS Lead Like A Winner By Derwin Gray Leadership matters. Specifically, your leadership matters. How you develop as a leader and reach your redemptive potential, under the guidance and power of God the Holy Spirit, will determine how the people under your leadership, will develop and flourish. Leadership leaks. A football team takes on the personality of the head coach. A local church takes on the personality of her leaders. May you and me look like Jesus so the people we have been entrusted to serve will look like Jesus too. The Apostle Paul writes, Imitate me, as I also imitate Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1 CSB). Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children, and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God” (Ephesians 5:1-2 CSB). Paul’s words send a jolt of urgency into my heart. Considering the epic and sacred task of leadership in the Body of Christ, it is vital we learn how to lead with a winning mindset. A winning mindset is a mind that has fixed its eyes on Christ and lives from His redemptive work of grace.
