Racism continues to be a curveball that plagues our country centuries after its creation. What we do know is that silence is not a cure for it. We must be willing to have the tough and uncomfortable conversations that can lead us to the beloved community that Dr. King spoke of. No group is more capable and prepared to have these conversations than our youth. History reminds us of the courageous youth who put their lives on the line to make sure all Americans could exercise their right to vote and could dine in any restaurant of their
choosing – regardless of the color of their skin. Each
year, through the Human Ambassador Project, LEAD
seeks out courageous student-athletes who are
willing to step up to the plate to learn how they
can become beacons of hope and change for a
better Atlanta.
