sufficiency. To the church in Laodicea, Jesus says,“ You say,‘ I am rich; I have everything I want. I don’ t need a thing!’ And you don’ t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked”( Revelation 3:17 NLT).
The greatest threat to revival today is not persecution or secularism— it’ s complacency. Too many Spirit-filled believers have stopped drinking from the living waters because they’ ve convinced themselves they no longer need to.
I once heard a well-meaning leader say,“ I don’ t need revival— I am revival.” While that may sound bold, it misses the point. We’ re not reservoirs; we’ re vessels. And vessels leak. Every believer, no matter how wise or mature, needs to return to the river from time to time. Your spiritual thirst makes a considerable difference.
In the book of Judges, Gideon’ s army was led to a stream. There, thirst became a test. How each man drank marked his readiness for battle and his alignment with God’ s purposes. Destiny turned on something as simple as posture at the water’ s edge.
So it is with us.
We too are brought to the river. Not merely to observe, but to decide. Will we draw near and drink deeply? Or will we remain on the banks— hesitant, analytical, spiritually parched while revival flows just out of reach?
