Think about it . This is the very first statement of Jesus ’ very first sermon , and of all the topics he could have addressed , he chooses pride . Maybe he came out of the wilderness after forty days of prayer and fasting and was basically saying , “ Guys , I was just tempted three times by the enemy , and it all centered on pride . If he came after me with pride , he is going to come after you with it .” Now , this is just my opinion , but you have to admit that the story lines up pretty well .
