and celebrate where we can. But these comments about Christians cannot just be ignored or written off. There are reasons people are hurt and bitter that we need to address and repent for.
In Psalm 139, David invites God to search him. He is so secure in God’ s love for him, in how intimately known he is in all his thoughts and ways, that he asks God to test his motivations and actions without fear. We can do the same: Let’ s invite God to open our eyes to any non-kingdom way in us. Let’ s rewrite the narrative and be known for the radical love of Jesus.
What if we could be hated because we looked so much like Jesus? What if we were annoying because getting us talking behind people’ s backs was impossible? What if we took our enemies off guard with kindness and care? What if we kept showing up on the doorsteps of the grieving, long after their loved one departed? What if we were willing to make amends when we were wrong? What if we were willing to lose jobs, status, or power because we refused to tell a lie? What if?
That’ s what you were hatched for.
