SACRED SPACES / SACRED WORK

Sacred Spaces
Medical school doesn’ t train you for these things; nothing does. We don’ t take classes on how to love people well or study lessons on compassion. We acquire this knowledge in the day to day of living in a broken world. Through life, we learn to protect our hearts. We want to shield them from being hurt and guard them against future pain. But... there are times when your need to protect your heart is superseded by an unexplainable, divine pull. In these moments, your past hurts, pain, and current struggles open you up like a blooming flower. One at a time, the petals of your heart are pulled back by the Master to release the fragrance of fully giving yourself.
When that little boy grabbed my legs, I truly began to understand there is a difference between the work we do because we are trained to do it and the sacred spaces we have the opportunities to work in with God. The two may converge, but in understanding our sacred calling, we break free into the wide open space of living fully and loving boldly.
Most of our waking hours are spent doing work
