The moment a sinner sees his once hidden sin and is willing to repent , faith steps up and says , “ Here I am . Will you take me by the hand ?” It is the first principle of the Christian walk .
Faith is the loving parent who beckons to the toddler to take his first step . It says , “ Come to me . Have confidence . You can do it ! I will catch you if you fall . Take courage and take that step . You can do this . You must do it .” How delighted parents are to see their child take his or her first step . They know what ’ s coming next . He is going to walk ! He ’ s going to run . He ’ s going to go places .

In the same way , that first step of faith has big consequences for new Christians . It means they are going to walk with God . They are beginning an adventure .
There is no divine rejoicing until we stand up and step out in confidence , having good courage , for without that childlike faith , “ it is impossible to please Him , for he who comes to God must believe that He is , and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him ” ( Heb . 11:6 ).
In verse 1 of Hebrews 11 , the Bible gives us a definition of faith : “ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for , the evidence of things not seen .” Faith gives
