“ He knows everything about us . He knows everything that ’ s happening in our lives . And He knows the reasons why . We may not always be able to understand those reasons , but He does , and at the end of the day , that ’ s all that matters .”
To the outstanding group of people who cared for J . D ., including many doctors who provided personal cell phone numbers , made house calls , checked in after hours ; and the caregivers , hospice nurses , and therapists who cared for J . D . like a family member — you are the reason that we had as much time as we did . The level of compassion you had for J . D . when he couldn ’ t reciprocate a bit of it kept us afloat . Caregivers , your job was excruciatingly difficult , and I ’ ll never be able to thank you enough for linking arms with me . With sickness like this , it ’ s easy to ask the question , “ Where is God ?” But I know where He was . He was in you . You were His hands and feet .”
I guess what I ’ m trying to say is , there may be times when it feels like God ’ s not there . Like He ’ s not listening . Or like He simply doesn ’ t care . But I ’ m here to tell you , nothing could be further from the truth . He ’ s there in the form of friends and family who reach out to us in our darkest hours and in those who offer a kind
word , a helping hand , or a shoulder to cry on when we need it most .
