The Brink is the impressive debut book by playwright, screenwriter, and
fiction writer Austin Bunn. Bunn’s stories traverse worlds from online
gaming to end-time cults, sometimes dipping into the fantastical, but
they all deal in characters who are on the edge of a precipice of some
kind in their lives. In “The Ledge,” a ship has literally sailed to the end
of the world, and the crew discovers what might lie beyond. As Bunn
has stated, he is drawn to “stories about the resilience and
transformations that happen at the moment when one way of life ends
and another begins.”
