RACHELL KHOO Le Nuage talks to Rachell Khoo, Sydney based fashion buyer and illustrator. favourite designers and why? achell Khoo’s outlook on the world is what first captured my eye when coming across her beautiful snippets of positivity on Instagram. Her profound sense of style, defined by her love for monochrome and look of romance and fluidity is something to be adored and cherished by many. Khoo’s personality is equal to her creativity, always helpful and constantly interactive with the people around her. We R could do with more people like her in our world. Le Nuage de la Mode: Fashion buying is your main career, what enticed you into buying first of all? Khoo: My passion for style and styling; I love putting ready made designs together to create a character. After all, style manifests personality. What’s the driving force behind your fashion 59 illustrations? What influences them? My love for God and His art work; nature. Everything aboutnature inspires me, colours and pigments, textures of rocks, leaves, grains of soil and the organic flow through it all. Your style is impeccable and appears to be based mainly around monochromatic pieces that have a very romantic feel, who are a few of your » I love colours and yet I dress in black and white. I love blending in details than standing out in colours. My favourite designer would be Karl Lagerfeld; his works are wearable art! And of course his influence of black and white. What are your inspirations and thoughts when working as both a fashion buyer and illustrator? I get to immerse myself in both the fashion business world and the art world. I’m learning a lot. You are a Sydney based fashion buyer, did you grow up in Sydney? I grew up in an island called Penang in Malaysia actually. I came to Australia seven years ago to do my doubt degree in Fashion Design and Advertising. Continued on staying here as I love it here, I have worked in advertising, publishing, fashion and now buying and styling. Lastly, what are your plans for the future and what are you working on right now?
