JAMIE WEI
HUANG
BACKSTAGE
Excitement was electric
backstage at Jamie Wei
Huang’s London Fashion
Week A/W14 show hosted
by Fashion Scout at the Free
Mason’s Hall in Holborn.
Models rehearsed their
catwalk in the corridors of
the venue with protective
covers wrapped around their
perfectly slicked pontails
that rested on the nape of
their necks., while the team
of hair and make-up (of
which Bodyshop and Toni
and Guy were the sponsors)
were never to far away to
adjust the minute details
needed in order to make sure
the models were constantly
looking on form for the show.

The shoes in the collection
were two-toned chunky
heels that reflected the
clothes well through bold,
strong shapes and colours.
The heels were surprisingly
high but due to their
thickness were relatively
easy for stability.
Watching the models
practise the catwalk preshow was breath-taking.
As they sauntered down
the catwalk in the all
but empty venue, apart
from a few PR girls and
relevant spectators, you
couldn’t help but go silent
due to the theatrically
beautiful music that
edged on being eerie. As
the models came back
from the run-through the
energy turned up a notch,
a the excitement went
through the roof with a
18
tinge of panic.
The clothes themselves
were beautifully crafted,
reminiscent of a warrior-like amazon woman,
seducing her way down
the catwalk with nothing
other than her clothes
and her confidence. The
palette stuck to monochromes and electric
blues with a dash of the
lightest pink, offering up
more playfulness with
texture and shape. †
